Happy Easter!!

I can’t believe it is March and the beginning of the 4th quarter!! The class has been very busy preparing for the MAP tests in April. Third graders have to write, revise, and write the final draft to a writing prompt for one session on the test. We also have to write a letter complete with date, greeting, body, and closing.  The MAP test in Math includes clocks, graphs, measurement, and basic facts.  Hopefully, everyone will get lots of sleep and no one will be absent during the tests!!

Our "Young Author" winners were Austin and Taylor. They will represent our class in Joplin at the “Young Author’s Day” in May. Everyone finished their book complete with a story and illustrations. All the students did a great job!

The Vernon County Soil and Water Conservation Dept. representative, Rocky Steiger, visited our classroom February 19 to talk about water conservation. She presented a power point and gave us good ideas how to conserve our water. Third and Fourth Graders enter in a poster contest every year. The theme this year is “Water Is Life”.  Everyone entered some really great posters! Winners have not been announced but we hope we can have some winning entries!

We will be going to the fort in Fort Scott for our field trip on May 8. High School Students set up different stations to perform the life at the fort in the 1800's. I will send home more detailed information later.

We are all looking forward to the Easter 3 day weekend!!  It probably will be our last break until school is out!! I have really enjoyed this year and can’t believe they are almost 4th graders!!!  I want to thank everyone (esp. Parents and Grandparents), for making my year easier… your help is always appreciated!!!
