DUCT TAPE WILL FIX ANYTHING!!!

College Algebra Class Builds Parabolic Reflectors!

by Diane Blankenship

March 18, 2008

The senior class used cardboard, aluminum foil, and duct tape to build these parabolic reflectors.  The object was to get the highest light reading on the light meter. The reflectors were based on the properties of parabolas. The seniors put their new knowledge of parabolas to use while trying to build the better reflector.  The students involved in the projects were Tessa Ussery, Nick Judd, Cameron Bott, Ashley Cox, Travis Farmer, Scott Farmer, and Morgan Hinkle.
