The Practical Parenting Partnership held our first event of the school year on Monday, Sept. 14th. We had a Reading Carnival for students in grades K-6. There were 17 families and 30 children in attendance. All students received a book bag when they arrived that they decorated and personalized. Then they colored a "Flat Stanley" and chose a book from the Flat Stanley series to take home. From there they moved to the duck pond where they got to choose 4 ducks and prizes. The "Book Walk" was a big hit. Students got to win 2 books at this game. We also had a "Toss and Blend" game where they created words and won a note pad and ink pen. Finally they played a bean bag toss game to match book titles and authors and won another book. Students took home 4 books of their own. Thanks for all of the teachers for their help : Mrs. Forkner, Mrs. Beattie, Ms. Forsythe, Mrs. Wait, Mrs. Ricketts, Mrs. Ruhl, Mrs. Morris, Ms. Stark, Mrs. Williams. Thanks also to the parents for bringing their children - I hope you all enjoy reading your new books.
