Bronaugh FFA Members Earn State Degrees and Compete in Proficiency Selection

by Travis Wait

Congratulations to Clayton Cox for winning the 1st place Area 9 proficiency award in Agricultural Sales Placement and to Sarah Houk for receiving 3rd place in Agricultural Processing during area competition held at Jasper.  Clayton now gets to move on to State competition during the State FFA Convention and compete against the other thirteen 1st place area winners from across the state in Ag sales placement.  The other schools in Area 9 that they competed against were: Carl Junction, Joplin, Carthage, Greenfield, Lamar, Nevada, El Dorado Springs, Liberal, Dadeville, NEVC, Sheldon, Miller, Golden City and Miller.  Just proves that small schools can compete!

Congratulations also to Clayton Cox, Sarah Houk, and DJ Beason for earning their FFA State Farmer Degree.  They will be awarded this honor during the State FFA Convention in Columbia April 14th - 15th.  The State Farmer Degree is the highest degree that an FFA member can receive on the state level.  It takes dedication and excellent record keeping over several years to earn this degree.  Only 7% of the state wide FFA membership receive this degree each year and considering that there are 324 FFA chapters and 26,500 FFA members in the state of Missouri this is quite the honor.
