This is the final year of our grant and we intend to make it a great one!! Our After School Program has enrolled 55 students for our before and after school program. We provide a safe, educational, and fun after school environment. We make sure all children have an opportunity to complete their homework and participate in fun learning activities.
We are currently planning a field trip to Silver Dollar City in Branson for Christmas. We will be providing parenting classes for parents of children involved in the after school program. The classes will be taught by Joyce Ryan and you will learn some important resume building skills and how to create a career portfolio. The classes will take place in October and November.
The National "After School Lights On " celebration will take place on Thursday, October 20, 2011. For scheduling purposes, Bronaugh After School "LIGHTS ON" activities will take place on Thursday, October 13, 2011. "Lights On" After School is a National celebration sponsored by the After School Alliance. Last year there were some 7,500 "Lights On" celebrations nationwide. As a part of the national celebration, the Empire State Building in New York and the historic Lindberg Beacon atop City Hall in Los Angeles were illuminated to celebrate the importance of keeping the lights on after school to keep youth sage, support learning, increase the health and skill-building of youth, and support working families. Year after year, "Lights On" Afterschool gets bigger and brighter, as more people recognize how important it is to keep the lights on for children after the school day ends. We will celebrate with activities on Thursday, October 13, 2011 from 3:15-5:15 pm and each participant and their family will be invited to the Bronaugh athletic events that evening free of charge. Come enjoy the fun!!
