Hello. My name is Matt Hendrix and I am the 4th-12th grade music teacher at Bronaugh High/Elementary school. I teach 7th-12th grade band, high school choir, 6th grade band, 5th grade band, 7th-8th general music, and 4th-6th grade elementary music. This is my third year teaching in the district and my third year teaching anywhere.
I grew up in mainly two places: Cincinnati, Ohio from birth to age 10, and Springfield, Missouri from age 10 to 18. I graduated from Glendale High School in Springfield, before going off to college. I was one of 12 valedictorians in my graduating class. I then attended William Jewell College (Liberty, Mo) for my B.S. in Instrumental Music Education. While in college I student taught in the North Kansas City School District. I was also involved in the Liberty Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Band, Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Chapel Choir, Concert Choir, and Hand Bells. I was also a member of Lambda Chi Alpha, a fraternity on campus.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing or listening to music, reading, video games, following sporting events (MIZ-ZOU!), and barbecuing. I am excited about starting a new year in which we will have members of the high school band who learned their instruments from me and where our high school band will be the largest since I arrived here in 2007!
